Teacher Opportunities

Teacher Appreciation Day:
Teachers will have an opportunity to see first-hand what’s offered to school groups during Teacher Appreciation Day on Saturday, January 15, 2011 from 10 am to 6 pm. Educators simply need to show a current teacher ID or pay stub at the Aquarium’s ticketing center to visit the Aquarium and IMAX 3D Theater at no cost. The offer is good for one teacher and one guest. Additional guest tickets may be purchased that day at the education group rates listed below:

  • Child (through 12th grade): $6.50 Aquarium; $10.25 Aquarium + IMAX
  • Additional Chaperone: $22.50 Aquarium; $27.50 Aquarium + IMAX

Throughout the day, the Aquarium education staff will provide field trip information, classroom tours, program previews and point out the many ways our the Tennessee Aquarium can supplement their lesson plans.

Workshops:
Teachers can take advantage of the many workshops and in-service opportunities available through the Tennessee Aquarium. Many of these classes can be hosted at the Aquarium or at your school. Additionally, classes can be tailored to fit your school inservice schedule.

Field Trips

The Tennessee Aquarium provides an unforgettable learning experience for children at all grade levels. Not only does the Aquarium exceed the science standards for Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama; we are also accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as a supplementary education school.
